Several dozens of Russian citizens of Armenian origin working for the international airport of Sochi, Russi have made a statement protesting against discrimination against them. They announced that the management of Sochi International Airport fires employees of Armenian origin, including experienced employees with good reputation.
The Armenian Embassy in Russia has responded, stating that they have talked to, listened to all the sides, both the management of the airport and the fired employees, relevant agencies, and the situation is at the center of attention of the Armenian embassy.
The developments continued as a recording of the conversation between the fired Armenian employee and one of the representatives of the airport was published in which the latter says there was no need to complain, they should have waited a little bit as they don’t like when one complains.
The airport of Sochi has made a statement that a multi-national staff is one of their assets, and there is no discrimination, the human resources are managed in line with the Russian legislation.
“The human resources management decisions are made based on corporate standards and provisions, based on the ethos of a multinational staff,” the management of Sochi International Airport states.
The question occurs what corporate standards and ethos were violated by several dozens of fired Armenian employees? Does the management of Sochi airport have an answer to this question?
Or is it ethically wrong to have a big number of Armenian employees from the point of view of Sochi airport? Or is it possible that this fact is considered a breach even beyond Sochi, throughout Krasnodar region? Who is bothered by the Armenian employees in the airport of Sochi? By the way, in the published recording the representative of the airport hints at an order coming from the top? Who is at the top, the municipality of Sochi or the governance of Krasnodar region who may have decided to start with the airport or to define in which directions the Armenians have less restricted or unrestricted eligibility and in which directions their eligibility is restricted.
It is important to understand this because the problem in this case may be not only Sochi but also start with Sochi.
