Samantha Power made Zhingalov hats with women from Nagorno-Karabakh in Yerevan
Tuesday, July 9, 2024As part of her visit to Armenia, Power visited a food facility moved from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, "Taste of Artsakh", which received support from USAID.
Women from Nagorno-Karabakh introduced her to the preparation of Zhingalov hats, introduced that the filling is made from 13 types of greens, which surprised Power and she personally prepared the traditional Zhingalov hats.
"Taste of Artsakh" was created after the 44-day war of 2020. It's been almost 3 years since they moved to Yerevan. At the moment, most of the 10 employees of the company are people displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
"Our product is traditional Zhingalov hats from Nagorno-Karabakh. At the moment, we have about 12 types of Zhingalov hats," MihranBaghdasaryan, founding director of "Taste of Artsakh" told reporters, adding that they are very happy, it is a great honor to host USAID Administrator Samantha Power. USAID provided technical support to the company.
The cooperation started in October last year. According to Baghdasaryan, the support provided has given great results for the progress of the company, and allowed to increase the number of jobs.
