New diamond-cutting factory opens in Armenia
Monday, December 2, 2019A new diamond-cutting factory was opened in the city of Abovyan today. The ADM Diamond occupies an area of 3,600 square meters and has 700 employees, Public radio of Armenia reports.
About $ 3.5 million was invested in the implementation of the project. The company plans to increase export to $100 million in 2020.
The company operates on its own raw materials, using India’s experience to allow diamond faceting to be performed anywhere and at any distance.
According to the head of the company, the application of this experience in Armenia enables to create jobs in remote regions where there is a problem of employment, thus solving the most important social issue.
The company also has a workshop for the disabled, which will be expanded in the future.
Attending the opening ceremony was Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. He attached importance to the development of the sector and noted that the government is ready to provide appropriate support within its capacity.
