A group of protesters was determined to get their voices heard and opted to protest in Venice Tuesday morning after a curfew was implemented across Los Angeles County. 

Business owners have braced for it and have shown solidarity in hopes to ward off looters after the event was posted on social media. 

FOX 11’s Bob DeCastro said that it looked as though businesses were “bracing for a hurricane,” as he walked along a strip of boarded-up businesses on Abbot Kinney Boulevard.

The protest was planned for 8 a.m. Tuesday, which comes just two hours after the county-wide curfew expired.

A curfew was issued from Los Angeles County from 6 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday as many protests turned violent over the weekend in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis.

According to the social media post, “the goal is to demonstrate a non-violent march,” and that “looters will not be tolerated.”

Some Venice businesses had painted hearts and peace signs, as well printed out Black Lives Matter signs showing they are in support of protests and in hopes they aren’t targeted by looters.

Numerous businesses were damaged over the weekend after Santa Monica protests spilled over into the area.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, over 400 arrests were made and 95% of those arrested reside outside the city.
