Mnatsakanyan Meets with OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs
Friday, March 29, 2019Ahead of a summit between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Friday, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Thursday met with the co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk in Vienna.
The foreign ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan said the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Igor Popov of Russia, Stéphane Visconti of France, and Andrew Schofer of the U.S. discussed topics that would be addressed during Pashinyan-Aliyev summit on Friday, also in Vienna. The co-chairs also met with Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
Pashinyan left Yerevan for Vienna on Thursday evening and is scheduled to meet Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and President Alexander Van der Bellen.
Pashinyan will also meet with the Armenian community representatives at the Hayastan Center of the Armenian Embassy in Austria.
Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a press briefing on Thursday the co-chairs and the foreign ministers would analyze the Karabakh conflict resolution.
“All the issues will be discussed today in the sidelines of the meeting between the Co-chairs and the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Here the question is not so much about the wishes, but the analysis of the entire situation that will be done during that meeting,” Zakharova explained.
Meanwhile, based on an arrangement reached with the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh, the OSCE Mission conducted a planned monitoring of the ceasefire regime on the Line of Contact between the armed forces of Artsakh and Azerbaijan, in the north-west of Seysulan village of the Martakert region.
Representatives of Artsakh’s foreign and defense ministries accompanied the monitors.
