Los Angeles COVID-19 update:
Monday, June 22, 2020Here are the current numbers of novel coronavirus cases in Los Angeles County and across Southern California:
- Los Angeles County: 85,942 confirmed cases, 3,137 deaths
- Orange County: 10,422 cases, 269 deaths
- Riverside County: 12,778 confirmed cases, 410 deaths
- San Bernardino County: 9,156 cases, 233 deaths
- Ventura County: 1,835 cases, 42 deaths
- San Diego County: 10,484 cases, 338 deaths
Health officials on Monday confirmed an additional 18 deaths and 2,571 new coronavirus cases in Los Angeles County, bringing the region's totals to 3,137 deaths and 85,942 cases.
Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer also noted that Monday was the third time within one week that there were at least 2,000 new cases of coronavirus infection.
Health officials said an increase in community transmission is contributing to the increase in new cases in the region.
Mayor Eric Garcetti also announced new thermal imaging cameras for Los Angeles International Airport. They are being tested at the Bradley terminal. The cameras can check someone's temperature as they walk into the airport.
