Little Armenia-present reason to be proud or soon-to-be just a memory?

According to the 2000 U.S. Census, Los Angeles is home to the largest Armenian population in all of America. The reasons that made Armenians move to the United States, and specifically Los Angeles, are various. But the fact is that America has one of the biggest Armenian Diasporas in the world.
Every Diaspora has the responsibility to preserve and protect traditions and customs. Armenians of the United States have always done their best to preserve their Armenian identity. No matter where you go in Los Angeles, almost everyone knows who Armenians are.
One of the biggest Armenian areas of Los Angeles is Little Armenia, or maybe was? Little Armenia is a community that is part of the Hollywood district of Los Angeles. It is also referred to as East Hollywood.
Little Armenia is one of our biggest Armenian communities. St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church is located there. One of the reasons of its name is the large number of Armenian stores and businesses they had already opened there by 1970s. It carries a whole history of Armenian Diaspora.
And now, by 2014, the number of stores and businesses have dropped abruptly in this area. Armenians prefer opening businesses mostly in Glendale. This is the reason Little Armenia is currently under the risk of disruption. All the history built by our grandparents and parents is going to vanish. Let’s just think about this and realize we have to preserve this historic community of ours. Despite everything, Little Armenia is still the perfect place for Armenian stores and businesses as it still has a lot of Armenians living there.
