Kim Kardashian’s visit to Armenia
Kim Kardashian was born on October 21, 1980 in Beverly Hills, California. She is one of the most famous reality television stars. In the beginning the only thing she was famous for was being friends with Paris Hilton but later on she became a reality show star and started earning millions of her own. In 2010, Kardashian was reported to be the highest-paid reality television personality, with estimated earnings of $6 million.
She and her family came up with an idea of filming the everyday life of their family inside their house, which was the first show of that kind. This was the beginning of her celebrity life. Since then she has appeared in other shows, public celebrity events, music videos and magazine covers.
Being partly Armenian, Kim Kardashian has started showing interest in Armenia and the Genocide subject for the past few years. Her father was fully Armenian whose roots were traced back to Erzurum. Kim’s grand grandparents fled to America in around 1913.
Kim chose to visit Armenia this year specifically, because her ancestors as well escaped the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and she might be as well considered a descendant of the Genocide survivors.
Kim is currently in Yerevan with her sister Khloe, daughter North and husband, famous rapper Kanye West. She is paying an 8-day visit to her historical homeland and this step is very much important for Armenia at this very important time.
Khloe Kardashian has posted a picture with Kim at the Mother Armenia statue and captioned the photo as follows:
‘’Visiting the Mother Armenia statue today in Yerevan. The Mother Armenia statue symbolizes peace through strength. It can remind viewers of some of the prominent female figures in Armenian history. Who took up arms to help their husbands in their clashes with Turkish troops and Kurdish irregulars? I am woman hear me roar! Blessed to be here!!!’’
Kim’s visit on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide has a very big positive impact on raising awareness of the events that took place in 1915 and of the 1, 5 million innocent people murdered by the Ottoman Empire.
Statistically, the amount of people who know Kim Kardashian is 7 times more than people who know about the existence of Armenia. Her one time visit to Armenia will not only contribute to the awareness about the Armenian Genocide, but will incredibly raise the tourism rate in Armenia at least for this year. That is a very patriotic gesture and it proves that Armenian blood in Kim speaks out loud.
