Armenians being united in the US
Tuesday, April 16, 2019Armenians started to immigrate to the United States of America a long time ago. In the 70s and 80s, they started building up Little Armenia in East Hollywood, after that they started moving to Glendale, Burbank and other cities in California.
Among the Armenians who live in the USA, there are both the ones whose parents and grandparents immigrate here and they were born here, as well as the ones who immigrated to the United States recently.
Of course, there will be differences among these people. Some might speak Eastern Armenian, some might speak Western Armenian, some might not even speak it, but they are still Armenians.
It is obvious, that that American born Armenians might have some other traditions and customs, habits and preferences. It is natural because there were not born and raised in Armenia.
Yet this is not a reason to call someone less Armenian than the other. There are so many people who were born in the United States and have visited Armenia just a few times, but have this big feeling of respect and love towards Armenia and Armenian culture. They are always following up on the Armenian news and show compassion about the events undergoing in their home country.
There are many proofs of American born Armenians being very patriotic and one of the most wonderful ones is that lately, one thousand American Armenians have signed up for the Armenian army in case of a war. This is truly something that deserves respect.
