Armenian population in other US states
Tuesday, April 16, 2019A big flow of Armenian immigrants to the United States started during the Soviet years. The reasons for the immigration were different but most of the times the reason is the better life. The immigration of Armenians continues until these days, and many people are leaving their country, homes, friends, and relatives and move to the United States of America.
Armenians are spread all over the United States, yet there are specific states and cities which have the biggest Armenian communities compared to other states and cities. California is doubtless the leader among all of them. It has the biggest Armenian community in the United States and one of the biggest one in the whole world. That is the main reason why new immigrants usually choose Southern California as their destination. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, Los Angeles is home to the largest Armenian population in all of America. The leader city with the biggest Armenian community in the United States in Glendale where most Armenians prefer to relocate.
So is life more difficult for Armenians who live in the cities with less Armenian population? Like Chicago, New York, Washington, Florida, etc. In Southern California, where there are so many Armenians, we might feel a little at home thanks to that fact. Yet living in a state and city where you don’t know many people who are of your own nationality might be a little stressful and hard to adjust right away.
But in time, other states will also draw the attention of Armenian people and hopefully, each state and city will have their own little Armenian family.
